There
are
dwarf
daffodils,
forced
to
bud,
blooming
on
my
kitchen
table.
They
are
the
first
thing
I
see
when
I
come
home.
They
make
me
smile.
Meanwhile,
the
world
spins
in
a
peculiar
way.
I
find
my
balance
uneasy
these
days.
Passions
cut,
earthquakes
shaking
beings
to
the
core,
and
an
unsteady
ground
beneath
us
all
opens
up.
I
look
outside
and
notice
rain
falling
and
freezing
on
weather
worn
pavement
and
worry
about
my
footing.
The
daffodils
fill
the
kithen
with
their
heady
scent.
Their
yellow
faces
beaming.

The Weight of Things
There is an unconscious
Action
Wherein
One releases
The weight of
an
Object
To its
Resting
Place:
Unaware
that
Weight
has
Transferred.
There are
times,
However,
When
One
Misses
the
Placement
of
Said
Object
and
Gravity
Steals
the
Weight
Away
Registering
Panic
And
the
Grasping
of
Air.
How
Wonderful
It
Is,
Then,
To
Know
You
Are
Here
To
Catch
Me.
